CLAIM: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and YouTuber MrBeast are promoting the “Sweet Plinko” app that is giving away a P500,000 in bonus game credits.
RATING: FALSE
Images of a famous American YouTuber and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. have been manipulated to give a false impression that they are promoting a mobile casino app.
The ad featured a stitched video of MrBeast, known for his elaborate stunts and giveaway schemes, saying that if “you are watching from the Philippines you will get 500,000 pesos” by downloading the app.
The video then showed the app’s Google Play page, which included the official portrait of the president in one of its featured photos.
Further investigation traced the original video from MrBeast’s TikTok account promoting his stunt on YouTube back in June 2020.
The president has not been documented to promote gambling and was unlikely to do so after declaring a ban on Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs) and related activities in his state of the nation address last July. Hurt Allauigan
