FACT-CHECK: Video falsely claims Rep. Faustino Dy III removed as House speaker

CLAIM: Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III was removed as House speaker and was replaced by Rep. Leandro Leviste.

RATING: FALSE

YouTube account “NEWS UPDATE FILES” falsely claimed that Batangas first district representative Leandro Leviste had been elected speaker of the House of Representatives, replacing Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.

Flagged content: The YouTube video was uploaded on Dec. 31, 2025, drawing 12,400 views, 1,200 likes, and 89 comments as of writing.

  • The caption of the video reads, “JUST NOW! KUMPIRMADO NA! NEW HOUSE SPE4KER LEANDR0 LEVESTE? BOJEI DY SE-BAK NA? ROM0ALDEZ YARE KANA! (sic)” (“Just now! Already confirmed! New House Speaker Leandro Leviste? Bojie Dy removed from the position? Romualdez, it’s over for you!”)
  • The overlay text in the thumbnail reads, “NEW HOUSE SPEAKER! CONF1RMED LEANDRO LEV1STE! BOJEI DY SE-BAK NA? YARE KA ROMOALDEZ! (sic)” (“New House Speaker! Confirmed! Leandro Leviste! Bojie Dy already removed from the position? Romualdez, you are over!”)

Our debunk: Dy is still listed as House speaker of the 20th Congress. He represents the sixth district of Isabela.

Spot the fake: Be wary of non-official content with bold claims like the removal of politicians from office and sudden resignations or appointments of public officials.
