A Facebook post falsely claimed that Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was proclaimed as the new vice president following the supposed mass resignation of administration officials.
Flagged content: The Facebook post came from an account posing as “Kitty Veronica Duterte.”
- The post was captioned, “G00DNEWS! (sic) SA WAKAS! NEW ADM1N1STRAT10N (sic) NA! NAG RESIGN LAHAT? SAR4 NEW PRES1DENT? (sic) VP NASI MARCOLETA?🥺🥺(sic) .Nasa COMMENT Po ang Link..” (“Goodnews! Finally! A new administration! All of them resigned? Sara new president? VP Marcoleta? The link is in the comment section.”)
- The photo shows an overlay text that reads, “PINAG RESIGN LAHAT! NATARANTA? SAR4 (sic) NEW PRES1DENT? (sic) VP NASI MARCOL3TA (sic).” (“All of them resigned? Flustered? Sara new president? VP Marcoleta?”)
Our debunk: There is no change in the executive branch of the government, especially in the position of vice president, which Sara Duterte still holds.
- There are no reports of Vice President Duterte resigning or being replaced by Marcoleta, who remains a senator.
- There are no changes on the Office of the Vice President’s website.
Rewind: On May 22, 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. asked his cabinet secretaries to submit their courtesy resignations.
- This request did not include the vice presidency. Duterte resigned as education secretary in June 2024 amid differences with Marcos Jr.
