CLAIM: Nakipagsundo ang Europe at Australia bilang third-party states para tanggapin si dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte

Isang YouTube video mula sa channel na “NEWSFILES” ang maling nagpahayag na gumawa ng kasunduan ang Europa at Australia upang maging third-party states na tatanggap kay dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte matapos ang umano’y pag-apruba sa kanyang application para sa interim release. 

Red flag: Itinatampok sa thumbnail ng video si Duterte sa gitna, na napapalibutan ng mga larawan ng tila mga delegado mula sa Australia at European Union (EU) na nagkakamay, gayundin ng mga hukom mula sa Internationa  l Criminal Court (ICC).  

  • Ang caption ng video ay nagsasabing, “BREAKING NEWS: Europe at Australia Duterte Latest Update The Hague VP Sara Atty. Kaufman Panalo na.”
  • Ang overlay texts sa itaas ay nagsasabing, “Pinayagan na…Ito ang swerte na matutupad sa kalayaan.”

Mga Resibo: Ang mga larawang ginamit sa thumbnail, na diumano ay nagpapakita ng pakikipagkamay ni Australian Prime Anthony Albanese at European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, ay nagmula sa bilateral meeting ng dalawang political leaders sa Rome noong May 18.

  • Ang pagpupulong ay tungkol sa EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement at hindi tungkol sa kaso ni Duterte.
  • Ang mga larawan na diumano ay nagpapakita ng dalawang hukom na nag-deliberate tungkol sa kaso ni Duterte, ay mula sa magkaibang kaso at taon.
  • Ang isa ay larawan ni ICC Presiding Judge Julia Antoanella Motoc mula sa unang pagharap ni Duterte sa ICC ngayong taon, at ang isa ay si ICC Judge Sylvia Steiner sa pagsasampa ng kaso laban kay Jean-Pierre Bemba noong 2016.
  • Ang mga opisyal na dokumento ng ICC, court records at urgent request for interim release, ay hindi binanggit ang Australia o ang EU bilang posibleng mga third-party na estado.

Bakit ito may fact-check: Sa panahon ng pagsulat, ang YouTube video ay nakalikom ng 26,194 views, 1,400 likes, at 78 comments.  Maan Badua
