A fake quote attributed to TV celebrity Vice Ganda, praising the leadership of former president Rodrigo Duterte, has gained traction online.
The misleading post showed a fake screenshot of Vice’s tweet, along with a photo of him in tears.
The post spread amid reports that Duterte had been taken into police custody on March 11, due to charges of crimes against humanity filed against him at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
In a Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) post, Vice clarified that he neither released nor uttered the quote attributed to him. He confirmed that the post is fake.
Vice’s official X username is “@vicegandako,” and not “@viceganda,” as used in the fake post, which further proves that the claim is false.
As of writing, the fake quote has amassed 18,090 shares, 12,870 reactions, and 1,310 comments on Facebook. Leigh San Diego
