A Facebook reel containing a manipulated video of the supposed arrest of fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy has gained widespread attention.
The video also contains edited text that reads “10M nakuha na,” falsely suggesting that the P10-million reward for tips on the pastor’s whereabouts had been awarded.
On Aug. 24, Philippine National Police forces went to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City to search for and serve the warrant of arrest against the “appointed son of God” and other co-accused members.
In a press conference organized by the Police Regional Office 11 on Sept. 3, officials said a tip led them to raid a room that had been used as the pastor’s hideout, but their search yielded nothing.
However, Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said clothing and other items inside the room matched the build and size of Quiboloy.
On Sept.8, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos confirmed on a Facebook post that Quiboloy had been apprehended.
