FACT-CHECK: Landbank says circulating cash assistance announcement is fake

CLAIM: Elementary to college students will receive P4,000 in cash assistance from Landbank.

A TikTok account has falsely claimed that students from elementary up to college would receive cash assistance worth P4,000 from state-run Land Bank of the Philippines.

TikTok user “philippinesnayuda” posted the false “important announcement” on the platform, showing the name and logo of the said bank.

PressOne.PH reached out to Landbank and was told that the information about the supposed cash assistance is false.

A check of Landbank’s official website and social media accounts also yielded no such information.

On June 25, the bank posted a reminder on its official Facebook page, urging students and parents to be cautious of such announcements circulating online.

Landbank also urged the public to refer to its official pages and website for information about the bank.

As of writing, the photo has drawn 207,300 views, 2,102 reactions, 1,581 shares, and 744 comments on TikTok. Leigh San Diego
