CLAIM: Israel formed a “Bring Them Home” stunt during practice in 2024 Paris Olympics
RATING: FALSE
A post circulating on Facebook falsely claims that Israel’s artistic swimming team had formed the words “Bring Them Home” as a stunt during their practice for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Facebook profile “Thina Will” posted a manipulated image of the swimmers on the Facebook group “BE READY FOR THE RAPTURE,” where she happens to be one of the administrators, drawing thousands of reactions and shares.
The photo that was used in that post was a special photo of Israel’s artistic swimming team designed to raise awareness of the need for the quick release of abducted Israelis.
The photo was captured by swimming coaches Sveta Blecher and Larisa Kunin at Wingate Institute in Netanya, Israel.
It was posted in Ynet, Israel’s largest and most popular news and content website, as a photo to accompany the article “Waiting and Hoping”: The Art Swimming Team for the Abductees,” posted on Nov. 19, 2023.
Additionally, the caption from the Facebook post was an original caption to a Tiktok video showing the 2024 Israel Artistic Swimmers performing a stunt wearing their yellow swimwear and forming a pin-shape and Jewish symbol, the Blue Shield of David.
As of this writing, the misleading post on Facebook has garnered 52,000 reactions, 204 comments, and 8,000 shares.
This misleading post has been reposted by different social media platforms, misleading thousands of other users. Andrew Luis Babaan
