CLAIM: Dismissed mayor Alice Guo was arrested and is now in government custody.
RATING: FALSE
YouTube channel “PH SHOWBIZ UPDATE” published videos falsely claiming that the dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, Alice Guo, has been apprehended by authorities.
The videos carried misleading titles and thumbnails with words suggesting that Guo’s exact whereabouts had been discovered and that she was already in jail.
Three weeks ago, the account maliciously claimed that Guo was among those arrested in a raid on a property in Tuba, Benguet allegedly owned by a former Palace spokesperson, Harry Roque.
Reports surfaced early this week that Guo had left the Philippines and was believed to be in Indonesia.
The Bureau of Immigration confirmed this in a press release.
Guo’s close friend, Cassandra Ong, and sister, Shiela Guo, were apprehended by Indonesian immigration on Aug. 22. BI believes that they and Alice were together on their arrival to Batam earlier in Aug. 18. Hurt Allauigan
