The approval and trust ratings of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte dropped by double digits in September, results of Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan survey showed.
The survey, conducted from Sept. 10 to 14, involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults.
It indicated a significant decline in Marcos’ approval ratings, dropping 15 percentage points from 80 percent in June to just 65 percent.
The president’s trust rating also experienced a decrease of 14 percentage points, falling from 85 percent to 71 percent in the September survey.
During the same period, the vice president’s approval rating saw a decline from 84 percent to 73 percent, while her trust rating experienced a 12-point drop, falling from 87 percent in June to 75 percent in September.
Some of the notable events that occurred before and during the survey included deliberations on confidential funds, the implementation of price controls on rice, and heightened tensions in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), Pulse Asia said.
Other prominent officials included in the survey, such as House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, also experienced declines in their approval and trust ratings.
Romualdez’s approval rating dropped from 52 percent in June to 41 percent, while Zubiri witnessed a decrease in his approval rating by six percentage points, going from 56 percent in June to 50 percent in September. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
Gesmundo’s approval rating declined to 34 percent, which was the lowest among the five officials, from 44 percent in June.
Zubiri is the sole official to experience a single-digit drop in trust ratings, down by eight percentage points, while Gesmundo’s trust rating decreased by 10 percentage points.
Romualdez recorded the most significant decline in trust scores among the five officials, plummeting from 54 percent to 38 percent, marking a 16-percentage-point drop.
