Earlier this week, former 90s actor John Regala became one of the most-talked about topic on social media. The 55-year-old actor was spotted in Pasay City while he was asking for assistance. Many netizens were alarmed to see that the once robust and active movie star is now frail and sickly. Shortly after his photo went viral, John was interviewed in DZRH.
During the radio program, the former actor revealed that he’s currently going through a rough situation in his life now. Aside from being cast away by his family, John is also fighting several illnesses which affect his liver and stomach.

“Merdyo malala na ang akin liver c*rrhosis pero hindi naman ako nainom ng alak ever since. Di ko alam baka sa fatty foods ko nakuha siguro. At isa pa, yung aking sikmura ay may mga varicose veins na. Pag pumutok yun, ako ay sumusuka ng dugo. Sinusuka ko yung mga kinakain,” says John.
Moreover, he also opened up about his personal problems. Due to his failing health, the elderly actor needs his family to look after him. Unfortunately, John claimed that his family has driven him away. His mother, on the other hand, passed away this year.
“Wala na rin akong kamag-anak. Magmula nung namatay ang nanay, tinakwil na rin ako ng mga kamag-anak ko. Di ako sanay nanghihingi, sanay ako tumutulong. Eh ngayon, gusto kong maghanapbuhay,” says Regala, who is regarded as one of the greatest kontrabida in the Philippine film industry.
According to John, his true friends in showbiz continues to lend him a hand. Among them is former president Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada and Rez Cortez. But above all, the former actor wants a chance to work on television once again to relive his glory days.
