Isang Facebook post ang nagpapakalat ng maling edited na litrato kung saan makikitang naka-scout salute si Pope Leo XIV mula sa St. Peter’s Basilica matapos siyang mahalal bilang Santo Papa.
Makikita sa in-edit na larawan si Pope Leo XIV na nakataas ang tatlong daliri habang suot ang kanyang opisyal na kasuotang pang-papa—na agad binigyang-kahulugan ng post bilang scout salute.
May kalakip pa itong caption na nagsasabing, “Fui scout, inclusive antes de ser sacerdote…” na ang ibig sabihin ay, “Scout ako bago pa ako naging pari…”
Subalit, sa orihinal na litratong kuha ni Ettore Ferrari, makikita lamang si Pope Leo XIV na kumakaway sa mga tao sa kanyang first appearance bilang Santo Papa mula sa central loggia ng St. Peter’s Basilica.
Wala ring anumang tala sa kanyang opisyal na talambuhay na siya ay naging miyembro ng scout.
