FACT-CHECK: Antonio Trillanes did not run for senator

CLAIM: Antonio Trillanes conceded his senatorial candidacy

RATING: FALSE

A Facebook post falsely claimed that Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV had conceded his candidacy in the senatorial race.

The post contained an image that stated, “Senatorial candidate Antonio Trillanes IV concedes.”

The image was recycled from a post by INQUIRER.net on May 11, 2022.

While Trillanes did file a certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 elections on Oct. 3, 2024, it was for the mayoral race in Caloocan City.

Trillanes’ official Facebook page also posted a reel calling for support on May 10, two days before the elections.

As of writing, the post has been deleted. Regner Atutubo
