CLAIM: Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David and CBCP have endorsed senatorial candidates for the May 12 elections.

A falsified statement from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference (CBCP) of the Philippines surfaced on Facebook two days before the Senate elections.
The document contains the same format used by CBCP in its official statements to make the document look legitimate. It also used the signature of Cardinal Pablo Virgilio “Ambo” David, the CBCP president.
It also contained the names of 12 senatorial candidates the bishops allegedly endorsed.
However, no such endorsements were made by the CBCP and Cardinal David per CBCPNews, the official news service of the CBCP.
Cardinal David’s Diocese of Kalookan issued on Saturday afternoon a statement through its official Facebook page debunking the existence of the false claims.
Similarly, no official statement or any endorsement of any particular senate candidate exists in its official website. Hurt Allauigan
