CLAIM: A video of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters supposedly rallying in the Netherlands.
RATING: FALSE
A Facebook user posted a video showing people rallying and falsely claimed that they were the ex-president Rodrigo Duterte supporters in the Netherlands.
In a now-deleted post, the video featured audio of people chanting the former president’s name, along with edited text claiming that they were his supporters.
Through geolocation, PressOne.PH determined that the actual location of the protest was in Niš, Serbia, and not in the Netherlands.
A Serbian flag was also visible in the video, which also proved that the claim was false.
A different angle of the protest was uploaded on TikTok and it showed the same landmark featured in the manipulated video, further proving that the protest happened in Niš, Serbia,
Before deletion, the video had drawn 9,100 shares, 8,000 reactions, 1,000 comments on Facebook.
As of writing, the deleted post has been reshared by Duterte supporters on various social media platforms and continues to gain attention. Leigh San Diego
