Claim: Quote cards expressing support for ex-president Rodrigo Duterte as he faces ICC
Rating: FALSE
Several fabricated quote cards have surfaced on social media showing known figures, fictional characters, and even porn stars made to express support for former president Rodrigo Duterte.
These fabricated images, some of which may have been created as a joke or intended to be satirical in nature, have gained considerable engagement from unsuspecting social media users and Duterte supporters.
Purveyors of these cards used artists like Ellen Degeneres and fictional characters like Annalise Keating and Saul Goodman from popular US series “How to Get Away with Murder” and “Better Call Saul,” respectively.

The common narratives of these fabricated quotes were that the International Criminal Court has clearly “violated Philippine sovereignty” and that they support the former president against “persecution.”
Some also called for “Duterte’s immediate release.”
The fake quote cards featured logos of news organizations such as CNN and Fox News, misleading users into believing they came from credible sources.

An investigation by PressOne.PH found that the quote cards may have originated from satirical groups like r/2philippines4u on Reddit.
They first appeared on Facebook among anti-Duterte satire groups before eventually spreading to pro-Duterte pages around March 12 by, possibly, dummy FB accounts.
The posts may have initially served as “social media bait” to generate engagement among unsuspecting users.
However, after being widely shared, the cards may have lost their satirical intent and were eventually mistaken for legitimate news due to their resemblance to authentic news graphics.
One viral version of the quote card has amassed around 20,000 reactions, 5,000 shares, and 10,000 shares before it was removed from Facebook. Hurt Allauigan
