FACT-CHECK: Drug den found near, not inside Malacañang compound

CLAIM: The NBI raided a drug den inside the Malacañang Palace compound.

RATING: FALSE

A Facebook reel falsely claimed that a drug den was found inside Malacañang compound.

Facebook page “INDAY SARA Duterte Daily Updates” posted a video containing Politiko.com’s article as well as voice over that said: “Isang drug den ang nahuli ng mga taga-NBI sa loob pa mismo [ng compound ng Malacañang].

Grabe ah, sa Malacañang compound pa talaga ang pugad nila,” the video added.

(“A drug den was busted inside the Malacañang compound by the NBI. Shocking, that their hideout was even inside the compound.”)

The story cited and used in the background explicitly said in its headline that the supposed drug den was “near” the Malacañang and not “inside” its premises as claimed.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin lauded the efforts of the National Bureau of Investigation and related agencies for the successful raid of the drug den found near the palace vicinity in San Miguel, Manila.

As of writing, the video has drawn 75 reactions, 24 comments, 17 shares and 1, 200 views. Hurt Allauigan
