FACT-CHECK: TikTok user falsely links Gretchen Ho’s report to ABS-CBN

CLAIM: Gretchen Ho works for ABS-CBN News.

RATING: FALSE

A TikTok user misleadingly tied Gretchen Ho’s report from inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound and Ho herself to ABS-CBN, and accused the news organization of bias.

The content shared by TikTok user “Mang Ontoy” came from the exclusive coverage of One PH inside the KOJC compound.

Although the One PH logo was visible in the video, Ho’s report was uploaded with edited text and photos, falsely suggesting that ABS-CBN was biased in its coverage.

In the video, Ho was seen whispering “medyo alanganin tayo” to a police officer, which led some netizens to question the reporter’s and organization’s motives.

The content also implied that Ho was still working for ABS-CBN. It has been more than three years since she announced her departure from the network in an Instagram post. Ho joined Cignal and TV5 on Jan. 26, 2021.

A scan of the official website and pages of ABS-CBN News showed that the news organization did not broadcast any exclusive or special coverage from inside the KOJC compound. Leigh San Diego
