CLAIM: TikTok video claims US representatives rushed to meet President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for a “hair-raising” announcement.

A TikTok video falsely claimed that US officials “stormed” Malacañan Palace on July 31, to hear a “hair-raising” announcement from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
However, contrary to what the video claimed in its caption, both United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III visited Marcos in Malacañang in their official capacities as visiting dignitaries.
The meeting was also part of a regular ministerial affair between the US and allies such as the Philippines.
The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between the US and the Philippines was the fourth iteration and was the first time US dignitaries visited Manila instead of the Filipino officials going to Washington like in 2016 and 2023.
The president renewed Manila’s commitment to bolster the Filipino-American alliance in terms of economic development and defense.
The dialogue highlighted both nations’ commitment to working on issues such as the West Philippine Sea security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Filipino officials in the meeting were Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr. Hurt Allauigan
