CLAIM: Former president Rodrigo Duterte has died at the age of 94 according to the Office of the Press Secretary.
RATING: FALSE
A TikTok video recently made false claims that former president Rodrigo Duterte had died at the age of 94.
TikTok user “P A R I S I A N” uploaded on Tuesday, June 19, a video showing a 24 Oras breaking news segment with spliced audio sources.
The video used the breaking news audio from 24 Oras Breaking News announcing the death of former president Fidel Ramos.
As of writing, the video has garnered 338 likes and 80.5k views on the short-form video platform TikTok.
The manipulated audio falsely claimed that according to the Office of the Press Secretary, the former president had died at the age of 94. But Duterte is just 79 years old. Ramos was the one who died at the age of 94 in July 2022.
The Office of the Press Secretary has also been renamed to the Presidential Communications Office according to Executive Order No. 11, s. 2022, Section 1.
Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go went live together with Duterte on Thursday, June 20 at the latter’s house to show that the former president is still alive. Earl Jerald Alpay
