The holiday season is just around the corner, but it seems like Christmas will be sad for this lantern maker. Maximino Simon, a lantern maker, shared his disappointment on social media after his customer failed to honor their deal. The customer ordered Christmas lanterns amounting to P100,000, but he backed out on the last minute.
“Hindi na kukunin ng buyer. Sayang. P100,000 lahat ng bayad. Paano na ako? Baon na naman ako sa utang,” Max wrote on Facebook.
In a video, he also shared the big warehouse filled with many lanterns. His workers can be seen sitting on the floor, looking tired after finishing the orders.

Shortly after sharing this on social media, Max’s post immediately went viral. Many netizens can’t help but get enraged at the bogus customer. Outpouring support also came to Max’s way, and many people offered to buy some of his unsold lanterns to ease his burden.
Even celebrities came to notice Max’s situation. Among them is socialite and actress Heart Evangelista, who can’t help but sympathize with the lantern maker’s situation. Heart also chastised the bogus customer for taking advantage of Max’s situation amid the pandemic.
“Who ordered? Nakakainis ha. How to find him? Napipikon talaga ako! Hayop mga manloloko yan. Good luck sa inyo. Thank you, let’s all try to give him a merry christmas,” wrote Heart on Twitter, wherein she also shared a photo of Max’s tearful expression.
Heart, who is known for her kindness and generosity, offered to buy some of the Christmas lanterns from Max.
She is not the first celebrity to volunteer to do this. Earlier this week, social media influencer Christian Albert Gaza also offered to buy all of the lanterns in order to help Max.
