Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and ABS-CBN shutdown, many celebrities are using their platform to speak out. Among them is Jennylyn Mercado, who has always been vocal about her opinions on social media. The Kapuso actress has been criticized online for her anti-administration stance on some issues, including about the government’s crisis response.
While some fans admire Jennylyn’s bravado, the actress was also targeted by critics online. Some prominent personalities even spoke out against the actress, claiming that she should just stick to acting. But Jennylyn never let her bashers to dictate her freedom of expression.

Earlier this week, Jennylyn Mercado penned a message to her bashers. According to Jen, she refused to cave in to her bashers’ criticisms. Instead, she will continue using her voice to point out the flaws of the government and the system.
“May qualification ba dapat bago ka magkaroon ng karapatan na magkomento sa mga isyung panlipunan? Hindi ba sapat na mamayan ka ng Pilipinas at nagbabayad ka ng buwis? Bakit kung kelan Pandemya na lahat tayo ay apektado saka ang iba ay pilit na pinatatahimik?” she stated.
Furthermore, the Kapuso star also used Twitter to fight for the rights of healthcare workers. According to Jen, by denying them of hazard pay and benefits, the government is also exploiting their hard work.
“The role of the government is to promote the welfare of this country sa kahit ano mang sitwasyon. That is why any progress or positive action na nagawa nila ay hindi na kailangan bigyang puri dahil ‘yun naman talaga ang trabaho nila,” she stated.
