Many people would probably be shocked to find out that Kapamilya stars Marco Gumabao and Barbie Imperial are closely related. Unbeknownst to many fans, Marco and Barbie are actually related! Even though they share very little resemblances looks-wise, Barbie and Marco belongs to the same family. In an interview, Marco revealed that he found out that the young actress is actually his second cousin.
“Since Imperial siya, ‘yong mommy ko din. Sabi ko, siguro kamag-anak namin ‘to. So tinanong ko kung taga saan siya. She said Bicol, eh ‘yong family namin is from Bicol. Tinanong ko siya kung sino lolo niya then she sent me a picture. Pinakita ko sa mommy ko, kapatid ng lolo ko ‘yong lolo niya.”

Just like many cousins, Marco Gumabao and Barbie Imperial are always looking out for each other. Way back in 2019, the actress revealed that she has been ‘rescued’ by Marco at the right time. Back then, she was still trying to move on from a painful break-up. Fortunately, Marco and his friends arrived at the right timing.
According to Barbie, during her break-up, she has no one else to turn to. She couldn’t turn to her friends, since she and her ex have the same circle of friends. Luckily for her, Marco and his friends willingly welcomed her into their group and helped Barbie to move on from her heartbreak.
“Si Marco talaga yung nag-rescue sakin, yung grupo namin nung night na yon. Pag kay Marco talaga, si Marco kasi pag naga-advice siya, hindi niya sinasabi lang yun para maging okay ako. Sinasabi niya yun kasi yun talaga yung totoo, pinapangaralan niya ko,” shares Barbie Imperial.
Even though he’s young, it seems like Marco is filled with wisdom. Even though he just recently found out that he’s related to Barbie, this did not stop him from being protective of his cousin.
