November 29 marks the day when one of the greatest OPM icons have passed away. April Boy Regino, an iconic singer and composer who popularized many hits, finally bid goodbye at the age of 59 years old. He was known for his hits such as “Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin” and “Umiiyak ang Puso Ko.” According to his brother, Vingo Regino, the late singer passed away due to diabetes and other health complications.
Vingo also disputed the rumors that his older brother died due to COVID-19. As you may well know, throughout the years, April Boy has also battled with multiple health problems. As a matter of fact, one of his eyes became blinded due to diabetes.
April Boy spent the last moments of his life in Metro Antipolo Hospital and Medical Center in Antipolo Center. According to his wife, Madelyn Regino, the singer’s official cause of death was acute respiratory failure. One of his kidneys were also dysfunctional.
Shortly after the news about April Boy’s passing broke out, fans were already eager to get a glimpse of the singer for the last time.
According to Philippine Entertainment Portal, the remains of the OPM star were interred at their family-owned restaurant-bar in Calumpang, Marikina City.
For the safety of everyone involved, the singer’s family strictly implements health protocols during his wake.
According to a report in Philstar, even though COVID-19 guidelines restrict public gathering, they might make an exception for the singer’s wake service. Until now, fans are still flocking to the restobar to see a glimpse of the late singer.
As of now, there’s still no specific date for April Boy’s funeral. The family are still waiting for the arrival of his daughter Charmaine from the United States before announcing the date.
